Almost ready...

It amazes me how pretty the okra plant actually is... this late summer crop is almost ready to pick. people actually slow down and point during the time of day when all the blooms are opened (much like morning glories...they open and close during different times of the day). it is a field of green and yellow right next to the road.

I love fried okra...especially when it's mixed with green tomaters!  LMAO!
It's a bitch to pick though!  Well, actually you cut it off
the stalk...but I'm sure you already knew that!
This is the first year in many years that Momma didnt
plant any.  Thank the Goddess!  I miss not having
any fresh this year, but I sure dont miss the drudgery of
cutting it!
