ocean of green

kud·zu   (kdz)
n. fast-growing vine from eastern Asia having hairy trifoliate leaves and racemes of purple flowers followed by long many-seed hairy pods and tuberous starchy roots; grown for fodder and forage and root starch; widespread in the southern United States.

i am convinced that only two living species will survive a nuclear holocaust...if there ever is one (which i sincerely pray against daily in these uncertain times....): roaches (ack) and KUDZU. it devours. it doesn't die. it laughs at 105 degree heat indexs and -20 wind chills. it winds and covers and becomes anything in its path. and we are so LUCKY down south because...yes....it lives HERE. this photo was taken on a firing range on a once-thriving military base that has now been closed for the most part...amok amok amok. watch it creep....

Wow, that is very striking! Gorgeous!
Tell me please, what kind of camera do you use?  The shutterlag on my 4.1mg is driving me crazy.......half the time my photos turn out to be a "surprise" especially when taking photos of kids and pets!  Have lots of photos in my blog, with the shutterlagged camera, in the market for a new one.....check them out some time.  Excellent journal!

I think your pictures are so awesome esp. the ones that feature many shades of one color.........this one and 'shades of blue'.  I must admit after looking at your photoblog you inspired me to share my own thoughts and pictures.  I have a long way to go but will enjoy learning from you on the journey.  If you have a minute stop by my elementary photo journal..........Sandra's Pix.

I hate this stuff, its personal, and almost nothing gives me more satisfaction than setting fire to it every fall, beautiful picture, though.          Lexykella

Beautiful picture of the kudzu, even though I don't like it...when ever I see it overtaking trees I daydream about inventing a way to kill it.

Creeping up a tree near you!  LOL

Now that's Kudzu!
It'll strangle those trees of pull them down with the weight. Bad news. I have it here, but it's got to compete with all the other invasive plants. Something keeps it in check.

Hi!  I had to comment on this photo, as I have a problem with it where I live too.  I live in Northwestern Arkansas.  My grandfather-in-law used to burn it out each year, but since he's been gone, it has taken over.  It has taken over the hillside near our house and has crossed over our driveway, so, when we drive up the driveway, it is like going through a tunnel!  When giving directions to my house, I tell people..."when you see the vines...TURN!"

Anyway, this was my first time visiting a photoblog(?) and it was great! thank you for sharing!  Love your pictures!
