southern design

This is the porch on one of my favorite older houses in this area. it wraps around and is laden with rockers and small tables and greenage, but it is impossible to get a complete picture because of all the dogwoods in the yard. there are extremely old houses in this area, ones that were built by the founders of the little burg we call home...apparently this was once an affluent southern cotton area. i can just picture folks in their old-time garb sitting on this porch drinking lemonade in times gone by...

I love older southern homes.  There is just a charm to them that you just can't describe.  And you captured it here, perfectly. :)

I half expected to find grandma sitting there cutting peaches for a fresh peach cobbler.  At least that's what I would've found my grandma or great aunts doing.  Oh, and have fresh homemade lemonaide near by! :-)

God, I love porches like this.  If I could have a house with an old victorian exterior and a more modern open interior, I would be in HEAVEN.  They're just lovely.  Great photo!!!  Looks like a place I'd love to sit a spell.  :D

I always wanted a house with a wrap around porch. I would Love to sit and have lemonade with the neighbors. Seems like we don't slow down long enough to just hang out with the neighbors anymore. When it gets hot...seems like everyone stays inside. Thanks for the beauty you bring to life in the pictures you share.

We live in a Historic District--all the houses are over a hundred years old.  A lot of the Front porches are as inviting as this. Mine, of course, is covered with kids, dogs and toys...not to mention dirty sneakers and chalk.
